How did you start your company and what’s your favorite part of what you do?

My professional career started with an esteemed Silicon Valley design firm, where I played a key role in growing and establishing the firm. In 2018 I excitedly transitioned my role in the industry to Owner and Principal of STYLE WISE Interior Design. The most cherished aspect of being an interior designer is the outcome of the well thought out and creative design. Seeing my clients happy in their spaces is the most rewarding part of the job.

Describe your style in one sentence.

I like to think that my professional style is versatile and equipped to suit varying types of styles for clients. I would describe my personal and my home style as modern classic. Classic lines and features with modern touches.

When purchasing for your home, where should one invest and where should one save?

You should always invest in big pieces that you will be using and touching constantly. A high quality sofa, a cozy rug, a well built dining room table.. If the focus is on the bones of the house, invest in items like a great front door, beautiful stone and tile.

When designing a room, where’s the best place to start?

Always consider anything that is staying put in the room. This can be the flooring, wall paint, window treatments or furnishings like the sofa and rug. From there, start to prioritize other items based on your lifestyle needs. Do you need more storage? Do you need more seating? Or perhaps the room is too dark and we opt to update the window treatments to something that allows more light in.

What’s your advice when purchasing an investment rug?

It should be of high quality. Do you want to keep replacing a cheap rug or have a long lasting rug that is durable? There are higher cost rugs out there that are not the best quality.
The rugs pile (or thickness) has to make sense for your lifestyle and for the room it is in. For example you probably don't want a really high pile or shag-like rug under a dining table!
Consider what the rug will look like during the day with natural sunlight coming in and what the colors will look like at night as well when you have artificial lights turned on.
Make sure it is comfy to walk on! No one likes walking on a rough jute rug barefoot no matter what instagram tells us.
You have to LOVE it. Investment rugs are typically one of a kind or truly unique in color and/or size. So, make sure it not only works with the space in terms of color palette and sizing but that you truly love it. Don't worry too much about trends and just select one that you think is beautiful.

Your three go-to paint colors.

My all time favorites are all from Benjamin Moore. Edgecomb Gray (a beautiful light taupe that is so versatile), Simply White (the perfect "milky" white with no yellow undertone and not stark white as white-out) and Indi-Go-Go (such a fun pop of a purple/blue).

What design rule do you follow?

I often tell my clients that there are not a lot of rules you have to follow! I like to generally always repeat an element once it is introduced. This includes color, a material, a shape..Other than that, it's your home and you really should do what you 100% love.

Where do you find your inspiration?

From traveling. 2020 was interesting because of the lack of travel but luckily weekend trips to beautifully designed and well thought out places: Palm Springs, Napa, Carmel helped to fuel the creative juices.
